Building a list with your child

Start with a conversation: what do they enjoy playing with right now? What activity would they like to discover? You can write down all the ideas, then go over them together a few days later. This helps tell a passing whim from a lasting interest.

Present the list as suggestions. Not all the gifts will necessarily be given, and a surprise chosen by a loved one also has its place. For young children, an adult creates and manages the list.

Varying the joys under the tree

A balanced selection can combine objects, activities and time spent together. There is no ideal number of gifts: adapt the list to your family's habits and the space available at home.

• To imagine: figurines, costumes, play worlds or creative materials.
• To share: board games, books to read together or a family workshop.
• To get moving: equipment suited to an activity they practise or a discovery outing.
• To be amazed: a show, a visit or an experience chosen according to their interests.

Giving loved ones the useful details

For a toy, give the exact reference and any accessories already owned. For a book, specify the volume. For a piece of clothing, add the desired size. A simple comment can prevent many exchanges after Christmas.

Check the manufacturer's guidelines and choose items suited to the child. If you accept second-hand gifts, note the useful conditions: complete pieces, item in good condition and necessary accessories included.

Coordinating parents and grandparents without duplicates

Create one list per child, then send the sharing link in your family conversation. Each loved one sees the available gifts and can reserve one before buying it. Only one reservation can be active for the same gift.

Keep the private management link to yourself. It lets you edit the wishes from another device. Reservations do not appear in this space: you can keep preparing the list without knowing your loved ones' choices.

Sharing a list, not personal information

A first name or nickname is enough to recognise the list. Do not add a school name, address, full date of birth or other unnecessary personal information. Anyone with the sharing link can access the list.

Lists do not appear in the site's sitemap and carry a no-index instruction. The sharing link is nonetheless a means of access: send it only to the people of your choosing.
